Origin & History
Jura was founded in 1931 by the inventor Leo Henzirohs and is still based in Niederbuchsiten, Switzerland. The first products were irons, soldering irons and stoves, and coffee machines followed in 1937. Since the 1980s, fully automatic coffee machines have been the core business.
Positioning
Jura is one of the premium brands for fully automatic coffee machines, with models for the home and the office. The company is present in around 50 countries.
Character & profile
Typical for Jura is the Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.): the hot water runs through the ground coffee in short pulses, which is meant to bring out more aroma, especially in short specialities. The grinder (Professional Aroma Grinder) is the other signature feature.
What to check
Ask about regular cleaning and descaling and about the water filter. On many models the brew group can be removed, so take a look at it. Listen for unusual grinding noises and ask to see the milk system. More in the guide to buying coffee machines.

Well known are the E series, the Z series with freely programmable specialities, the WE series for higher volume and the GIGA line. Model names change with each generation.
