Used and new Bezzera coffee machines

Origin & History

The name goes back to Luigi Bezzera. He filed a patent for an espresso machine in December 1901, granted in 1902, and introduced the removable portafilter with a bayonet fitting. The patent later passed to Desiderio Pavoni, the founder of La Pavoni.

Positioning

Bezzera stands for Italian portafilter machines for home and hospitality, with a focus on heat exchanger machines.

Character & profile

Typical are sturdily built machines with an E61-style brew group and large boilers that stay stable even when you pull several shots in a row.

What to check

Ask about the age and care of the boiler, descaling and the condition of the gaskets. For heat exchanger machines, ask how the owner handles cooling the brew group. More in the guide to buying coffee machines.

Known series

Well known are Magica, Mitica, Unica and Strega, among others.
